If you're exploring new options for therapy in Oxford, CT, and traditional talk therapy hasn't quite worked, Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) may potentially offer a fresh path to improved mental health and wellness for you.

At Mind Body Well Therapy, your care begins with a licensed therapist in Oxford, CT, dedicated to providing integrative, neuroscience-informed and trauma informed support.

We offer KAP in a safe, grounded, and comfortable environment for adults who want to move beyond stuck patterns and reconnect with their lives meaningfully.

What is Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP)?

KAP combines the rapid-acting effects of low-dose ketamine with the supportive presence of a licensed therapist trained in psychedelic-assisted therapy. Ketamine enhances neuroplasticity, the brain's ability to create new pathways. This can enhance your ability see challenges from a new perspective and connect with deeper emotional truths.

Here's an overview of how it works:

  • Ketamine temporarily alters activity in the brain's default mode network. It increases glutamate, a neurotransmitter that supports neuroplasticity.
  • This creates a window where your brain can form new connections and release difficult thought loops. When paired with therapy, this "plastic" state allows emotional insights to land more deeply. It increases the potential for meaningful change to stick to day-to-day.
  • Sessions are structured to support your nervous system and your unique healing process. Initial visits, preparation therapy, guided dosing experiences, and gentle integration therapy sessions help you to carry the insights into your daily life.

Is KAP Right for You? A Thoughtful Approach for Sensitive, Stuck, or Stalled Healing

KAP may be helpful if you:

  • Feel stuck or stalled in moving forward in your life
  • Live with ongoing anxiety, depression, or PTSD
  • Have a history of trauma
  • Want to explore a deeper emotional process with support
  • Are highly sensitive or empathic and need a gentle, neuroscience-informed approach
  • For clients or patients of other helping professionals who are stuck or stalled in progress

We work with a diverse group of people. Most are professionals or caregivers or helping professionals who tend to others and are now ready to tend to themselves. Many of our clients are highly sensitive people who have tried other forms of therapy and are ready for something different.

You might be a highly sensitive professional who supports everyone else yet secretly feels worn out and emotionally flat. Or perhaps you're a creative professional who senses more depth within—but old patterns keep you circling the same challenges. Ketamine assisted psychotherapy in Oxford CT can offer a reset. KAP creates the potential to reconnect with your inner strengths that are underneath the noise.

During a KAP dosing session, you'll be in a safe, calm environment to support your relaxation. You may listen to carefully selected music, wear an eye mask, and rest into the experience. The ketamine is self-administered in lozenge form and taken sublingually.

You'll be gently guided to notice what arises—without needing to analyze or fix anything. A licensed therapist is with you the whole time, offering a quiet presence or supportive dialogue if required.

Each session is tailored to you and your needs. Some clients prefer a quiet, internal experience, while others appreciate light verbal reflection. You'll always be in charge of your pace and comfort.

Your KAP Journey, Step by Step

Journey Clinical Badge Lucrezia Mangione

You'll begin with a consultation and intake process. Then, you are referred to a licensed medical provider with whom we collaborate. Mind Body Well Therapy, Pllc works with Journey Clinical and other medical prescribers of ketamine. They handle the medical screening and prescribe the ketamine. Mind Body Well Therapy, Pllc is not a prescriber.

Your journey with us includes:

  • Preparation sessions are therapy sessions that help you clarify what brought you in.
  • Guided self-administered dosing sessions are held in a comfortable setting with a therapeutic presence.
  • Integration sessions process insights, apply them meaningfully, and take actionable steps between your sessions. These are therapy sessions.

A space is created where sensitivity, safety, and science meet. You are not ever alone in the process.

Safety First: Is Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy Safe?

For many people it is. For some it isn't. KAP requires a full medical screening by a prescribing clinician before the journey begins. They will evaluate your medical history to determine if it is safe for you. We work only with licensed prescribers, generally through Journey Clinical, to ensure safety at every step.

According to these prescribers, KAP is not appropriate if you:

  • Are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Have untreated psychosis or bipolar disorder
  • Struggle with substance misuse that has not been addressed
  • Have uncontrolled high blood pressure or serious heart conditions

Your safety and readiness matter. That's why we begin with a thorough psycho-evaluation process to help determine if KAP is a good match for your needs. And then you are referred to a medical prescriber to reeive your medical evaluation.
