Neurofeedback therapy

Neurofeedback is a powerful way to feel better.

We provide neurofeedback training, also known as brain-training. It is used as a stand-alone appointment in 3 different ways here at Mind Body Well Therapy, PLLC:

  1. In support of the holistic psychotherapy and counseling provided here at Mind Body Well Therapy, PLLC or
  2. In support of brain health-wellness and peak performance or
  3. As an adjunctive therapy for adult clients-patients who actively work with other health care providers like fellow counselors, MDs, PTs, MTs etc.

Backed by scientific evidence, neurofeedback may help to develop a quieter mind, improve brain functions and regulate a person's emotional state.

What is biofeedback?  How might it help me?

Biofeedback is training to gain voluntary control of how your body responds. Biofeedback helps you improve your conscious control of your physiological functions of your body. It’s gentle. It’s based on learning principles. It enhances your health.

With biofeedback, you can learn to gain better control of your:

  • Heart rate
  • Blood pressure
  • Hand or foot temperature
  • Breathing
  • Brain waves (= EEG Neurofeedback)

What is EEG Neurofeedback?

EEG neurofeedback* is a branch of biofeedback. Neurofeedback is about gaining better control of your nervous system using your brain waves. It’s training your brain to be more efficient and organized.  Specifically, EEG neurofeedback trains the brain to improve the brain’s overall functioning. This in turn can positively influence our mood, feelings, perceptions, thoughts and actions, and how we behave towards ourselves and others.  *EEG Neurofeedback goes by a few different names:  Neurofeedback therapy, neurotherapy, and brain training. Here's an overview of EEG Neurofeedback.

Brain Training

Neurofeedback exercises your brain by having you see and train the electrical pulses of your own brain. It does so in the form of a game. Did you ever want to see ifyou can move things with your mind?  Well, you can.  You play a game with your brain using the EEG machine.

With EEG neurofeedback, you are the only person doing the work.  You practice changing the speed of your electrical pulses in your brain.  The more you practice this the better you get at it.  The better you get at it the more it becomes a stable habit. Once it becomes a brain habit, it’s with you for the rest of your life.

With EEG neurofeedback you get the exercise you need to train your own brain to hopefully get stronger, feel more energy, and get better with whatever your goals are. That’s why it’s called brain training.

Research & Benefits

EEG Neurofeedback brain training has been around since the 70’s and it’s backed by science with loads of research.* The research has shown neurofeedback has positively helped with:

  • Stress response: how aroused our nervous system gets
  • Sleep and our sleep/wake cycles
  • How our brain think and cognitively process
  • How our 5 senses work: Our sensory processing
  • Regaining control over our body: Inhibition of motor responses
  • How we feel: Moods and emotions
  • How we remember: Memory
  • Support for Aging brain
  • And more
